The Torrid women\u2019s synthetic jacket is made in Minesota (United States) by Enlightened Equipment<\/a>. It has a minimalist, lightweight design, which makes it especially popular among long-distance ultralight hikers.<\/p>\n

When to use it<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is traditionally used to stay warm while resting, at camp, or together with your sleeping bag when temperatures drop more than expected.<\/p>\n

Compared to down, synthetic insulation does not lose loft when wet and, as a result, it continues to retain the heat your body generates. It is ideal for most 3-season hiking routes (spring-summer-autumn). Of course, you can also use it in winter, as long as you understand its limitations.<\/p>\n

Design<\/h2>\n

It has a fairly simple design and takes up very little space once compressed. It has 2 zippered side pockets to store your items or keep your hands warm inside. Another zipper lets you fully or partially open the jacket if you need ventilation.<\/p>\n

The raglan sleeves improve freedom of movement. The elastic cuffs, waist adjustment with shock cord, and insulated hood with drawcord help reduce cold air entry.<\/p>\n

To keep you warm, it uses a moisture-resistant synthetic insulation called ClimaShield Apex<\/a>. This high-end thermal insulation is made in the USA and is one of the lightest, most compressible, and most efficient options available on the market.<\/p>\n

The fabric feels very soft against the skin. In addition, the outer fabric has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that repels water, mud, and dirt.<\/p>\n
