The X-Mid 2, made by Durston, is an ultralight double-wall tent for trekking and backpacking, designed to pitch with trekking poles. It is aimed at hikers looking for a 2-person tent with good usable space, two vestibules, and a simple pitch with only 4 required stakes.<\/p>\n

Compared to other trekking-pole tents, the key points here are the geometry, the polyester fly, and the door design. The result is a sensible option for long-distance routes where a low weight, rain protection, and adjustable ventilation all matter.<\/p>\n

It makes sense for anyone who really needs a 2-person tent: two hikers, one person who prioritizes interior space, or long trips where two doors and two vestibules are useful for splitting gear. It is important to keep in mind that it requires trekking poles for structure and depends on at least 4 stakes to pitch. If you do not use poles or want a freestanding structure that does not rely on stakes, it is not the most logical choice.<\/p>\n

For 2026, the floor is updated with a more durable fabric, although the brand does not specify the exact material. It also adds factory-sealed seams, narrow high-precision stitching, double stitching, double-fold edges, extra reinforcements, and generous bartacks.
