La Robic Node pack, made by ULA Equipment in the United States, is a compact 20 L backpack focused on organization and everyday carry, with room for short outings and use as an under-seat personal item on flights.

It’s designed for those who want a streamlined format, with quick access and elastic external pockets to keep gear, food, or wet clothing separate from the main compartment.

When to use it

It works well as an EDC pack when you prioritize internal organization (sleeves and compartments) and need functional external pockets for items you’re constantly grabbing throughout the day. It also makes sense for commuting by public transport or flying when you want a compact size.

For short trips, it works best with a moderate load: its stated maximum load is 11 kg. If you usually carry more weight or need more volume, this format may feel limiting.

Design

It combines a roll-top closure that lets you adjust the height to the contents with YKK AquaGuard zippers on the external quick-access entry. The external UltraStretch mesh pockets (front “kangaroo” style and side pockets) are built for access and flexibility; they include laser-cut drain ports to let water escape from those pockets.

The harness uses S-shaped shoulder straps (S-straps) and a removable, adjustable sternum strap. It has 1” loops to add a removable hipbelt (sold separately), useful if you want more stability with loads close to its limit.

Made with Robic

The body uses Robic 420 (Robic nylon) with a PFAS-free C0 DWR finish and a triple-pass PU coating. In practice, it’s a fabric aimed at durability and reduced water absorption, without making the pack waterproof on its own.

The external pockets use UltraStretch elastic mesh, designed to hold bulky items and keep them accessible, with the trade-off of being more snag-prone than a smooth woven fabric.
