The X-Mid Stargazer Kit, made by Durston, is a set of adapters designed to make it easier to pitch the inner tent on X-Mid shelters.
The idea is to raise the inner more directly using buckles, pole-tip grommets, and peak guylines, with adjustment via line tensioners.
When to use it
It’s a good fit if you have an X-Mid (not Pro) and want to pitch the inner with poles/trekking poles—for example when you separate the inner and fly, or when you prioritize a quick, tidy inner setup.
Not compatible with pre-2025 models or the X-Mid Pro series. Designed for the X-Mid 1 and X-Mid 2 inners.
Design
The kit connects to the inner’s peaks via matching buckles and adds a grommet that accepts the pole tip. This simplifies the pitching sequence and avoids improvised knots or DIY adapters.
The included peak guylines should be oriented roughly in line with the ridgeline; if they’re tensioned in another direction they can twist the inner and reduce usable space.
Made of nylon
The base of the system is 15 mm nylon webbing and 2.5 mm reflective nylon cord for the guylines. It’s a common tent solution thanks to its balance of flexibility, durability under repeated use, and ease of repair.
The hardware (Woojin buckles and ITW LineLoc 3 tensioners) is aimed at quick adjustment with thin gloves and keeping guyline tension without knots.
