Ultralight Tyvek Bags

The ultralight Tyvek bags are manufactured by Gossamer Gear, a company from the United States that designs a wide range of ultralight products for hiking.

When to Use Them

These bags are normally between 50% and 75% lighter than conventional bags. This is often overlooked as a way to reduce your backpack’s weight. However, it can make a big difference if you use them. So, consider it one of the last steps to “save grams” in your gear.

They are not excessively large and fit well on the side of the backpack, meaning the bags don’t bulk up too much. This allows you to fill those empty spaces lost inside your backpack. Plus, everything stays dry, which is great if you’re storing documents, electronic gear, or money.

As a detail, although you may have seen it in the images, two come with a Q-Ditty zipper closure and another bag comes with a drawstring designed for storing stakes. All have a reinforced bottom for greater durability and strength.

Made of Tyvek

Tyvek is a material made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers and originally manufactured by Dupont. It is water-resistant, strong, waterproof, lightweight, and abrasion-resistant. With proper care, it will last through a multi-month adventure and endure thousands of nights.

When you first hold it in your hand, it feels like thick paper, but it is incredibly flexible.
