Ultralight Mountain Thermometer

Sun Company is a company based in Colorado (United States) that manufactures thermometers, altimeters, and a variety of outdoor accessories. The Brrr-ometer is a traditional mountain thermometer that efficiently measures a range of temperatures from 50°C to -30°C.

When to use it

Having a thermometer handy while hiking helps prevent heatstroke or certain situations related to low temperatures, such as hypothermia.
It will also be useful for gathering information and checking the performance of certain gear, such as your sleeping bag or insulated jacket. Knowing their limits will help you plan your future routes better.

Design

It has a height of approximately 6 cm and a ring for hanging it on your backpack, hip belt, or as Sun Company recommends, on the zipper of your jacket.
The indicators are in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and are easy to read.

Made of Anodized Aluminum

The classic mountain thermometer made of mercury is mounted on an aluminum holder that keeps the thermometer tube secure and protected. This gives it some durability.

   I was surprised to find such a precise thermometer in such a small size and with such light weight. I had been looking for one for a while to replace my old mercury thermometer that “stopped working” on a winter camping trip. A great choice, recommended.

   It does its job. We put the thermometer inside the tent and it seemed to be quite accurate compared to what we expected the temperature to be.
