With a capacity of 36 liters, this backpack is specially designed for multi-day trips. It is made of 70D and 210D Robic Nylon, featuring 3 pockets, a removable belt, frameless design, and a padded back for added comfort. Every detail has been carefully considered to keep the weight to a minimum. Model 2024.
The lightweight backpack for hiking Kumo 36, which means “cloud” in Japanese, is made in Texas (USA) by Gossamer Gear.
It does not have an internal frame to save weight, with a simple 3-pocket design and a removable minimalist belt. It also features the SitLight back foam, which provides great comfort, and is mainly constructed of 70D/100D Robic Nylon, a highly durable and resistant material.
When to use it
It is a lightweight and medium-sized backpack that forces you to carry only the essentials. You can carry loads of 8 kg very comfortably, suitable for 3-5 days of food and water. Its design features make it suitable for all types of terrains, allowing dynamic movements and jumps. The result: you will get tired much less and be able to go further.
The interior is quite spacious, and the side pockets make it easy to grab items without taking off the backpack. The hip belt pockets are ideal for small objects, and the front mesh pocket is perfect for storing wet rain gear or extra clothing.
It features a SitLight back foam SitLight that aids stability and can be removed to use as a ground pad 🙂 The shoulder straps have been improved compared to previous versions: now they are softer and wider. It is comfortable even when fully packed.
The hip belt does a good job stabilizing the load while keeping the hips free. Thanks to this, the backpack is suitable for individuals of almost any height, both men and women.
The Kumo 36L lightweight backpack for hiking is constructed with Robic, a type of ripstop nylon of very high quality made by Hyosung. They use 70 denier and 100 denier densities for the areas most prone to abrasion. It also has a polyurethane (PU) waterproof coating and a durable water repellent treatment (DWR) to prevent water absorption.
Compared to other nylon fabrics, Robic® is up to 50% stronger and tear-resistant without excessively increasing the weight. In other words, the Kumo 36L will last you for years.
Very lightweight backpack and very comfortable to carry with loads up to 10 kg

Ultralight backpack—I don’t think there are many others with this capacity that are comparable. I have its bigger sister, the Mariposa, and I needed this one for trips with less gear. Very happy with the purchase.

Excellent, very lightweight backpack, yet versatile and spacious. I waited to use it under load before commenting. You can carry 8 kilos in total comfort. I don’t recommend carrying more than 10, as indicated. The belt could be better, but the whole setup would weigh more. It does its job. A good choice for those looking for lightness and load volume above all else. The rear mesh pocket is wonderful.

Super happy with the backpack. I also used it for an 8-day trek and was able to carry everything I needed, with little weight and without running out of space. The only thing is that the side pockets for water/trekking poles have gotten a bit damaged, but I was going over rocks and that can happen. Very happy with the quality of the product.

Good morning,
I bought this backpack almost 1 year ago and I waited to use it on several occasions before commenting. Javier’s advice on which backpack to use, and my conversations with him about what I wanted it for, made me decide on this model.
I’d highlight its minimal weight and its quality. I use it for 1, 2, and even 3-day outings, carrying food, a tent, and everything necessary. It’s also true that I have a very dialed-in gear setup.
Water resistance: Javier told me, and it says so on the website, that it can handle some water, but it isn’t 100% waterproof. I’ve had quite a bit of snow fall on it on one trip, and on others some rain, and it held up, but they weren’t heavy precipitations. If I get caught in a really big downpour, I’ll comment on how it performs.
Modified: after months of using it, I trimmed and sewed some of the belt and shoulder strap webbing because it was very long. I also bought elastic cord and replaced the side cords with it so I can really secure what I’m carrying, the tent for example.
Rating: I love the rear mesh pocket, everything fits in it and you have it all within easy reach. The belt can be put on or taken off, and there are two height positions for placing it.

I’ve used several backpacks and this one is spectacular. Very light, durable, comfortable, and it has many compartments and pockets that help organize the load well. Aesthetically it’s very beautiful. At first I had doubts between the Gorilla and this one, but Javier helped me choose and he was right! I totally recommend it!

There’s little that can be said about this backpack—it’s the best of all the ones I’ve tried. It doesn’t move at all, it has the perfect pockets to carry what I need for my weekend hikes, and it’s even very useful for via ferratas and climbing.
