Lightweight Trekking Backpack
The Southwest 2400 is a trekking backpack made in Maine (USA) by Hyperlite Mountain Gear. If you need a backpack to traverse challenging terrains, Southwest is the one to beat.
When to Use It
With 40 liters of main storage + 10 in pockets, it has enough space for an overnight trip or multi-day routes. It can handle loads of up to 18kg and is designed to withstand any weather condition, whether rainy, desert, or snowy.
Unlike the Junction and Windrider, all its external pockets have a rigid fabric to resist wear when continuously rubbing or poking against vegetation or rocks.

Design
It features a large main compartment, an inner sleeve for hydration systems, and large pockets on the belt. Also, the top is rollable, allowing you to adjust the load as you progress, and even grab the jacket, a mat, or ropes.
They use two removable aluminum supports to transfer weight to the lumbar belt instead of a full frame. The belt is sewn to the backpack, unlike other backpacks. This ensures everything stays in place, improving the carrying experience.

Made of Dyneema Composite Hybrid
The Southwest trekking backpack utilizes a hybrid fabric composed of Dyneema and polyester which, in addition to its mechanical properties, is also very durable.
Dyneema is a waterproof fabric and doesn’t absorb water like other UL fabrics. This, combined with the sealed seams, means we can say it’s practically waterproof.
