This award-winning shelter is a single-wall design, with a sewn-in mosquito net to minimize its weight. It’s made from polyester coated with silicone, and its hexagonal design provides protection against wind, rain, and insects. This ultralight and reliable shelter is perfect for backpackers and hikers looking to reduce weight while ensuring adequate protection from the elements during their outdoor adventures.
The Lunar Solo ultralight 3-season tent is a product from the American brand Six Moon Designs. You’ll find few shelters as lightweight, comfortable, and secure as this one with such a low weight.
With plenty of space, a spacious vestibule, and a side entry, it is very comfortable even for tall individuals. Made of silicone-coated polyester, it provides strength, durability, and waterproofness.
When to Use It
The Lunar Solo ultralight 3-season tent is a 1-person shelter that you can primarily use in 3 seasons (spring, summer, and fall). It requires 1 carbon fiber pole or 1 trekking pole for setup (not included). You will also need 6 stakes to secure it to the ground (not included).
Its hexagonal design easily withstands strong winds from any direction. The short and sloped sides help manage rain and snow effectively. It is designed as a single-wall shelter with mosquito netting only at the bottom, which is attached to the base.
Design
The vestibule is located on the long side of the tent and is easy to close and open. When closed, it provides total protection against weather and insects. When open, it improves ventilation, reduces condensation, and, most importantly, provides great views 🙂
Its latest redesign raised the base and improved the interior. As a result, there is much more headspace compared to previous versions. The interior now offers 2.4 square meters of space (which is appreciated). Additionally, the end walls are slightly more vertical, improving comfort for taller individuals.
To achieve its low weight, it uses a 20-denier polyester fabric coated with silicone, making it completely waterproof. The silicone coating also adds some elasticity, similar to nylon, making it more resistant to pulls and tears.
For the most critical areas prone to wear and tear, such as the base, a 40-denier polyester fabric is used, also coated with silicone. This material is more durable than nylon, doesn’t stretch, and has a reasonably light weight, making it ideal for these sensitive areas.
An excellent option! I used it for 3 consecutive months in Mallorca, the Camino de Santiago, and the Transpirineaica GR11 and I haven’t had any problems. Resistant to strong winds, rain, and hail. The most important thing I remember is that when setting it up you need to carefully calculate the space where you’re going to sleep and pitch it in the “correct” spot, since it’s not a tent whose position you can adjust afterward without having to take it down. Condensation appeared on certain nights, especially when I camped near rivers or lakes, but although it’s normal, with an absorbent kitchen cloth it’s solved quickly. Even though I didn’t buy it, I would recommend the “footprint” to avoid micro-perforations from thorny plants, although I’ve set it up on rocks and it has never been punctured.

I love the design, cared for down to the tiniest detail, its space, how quick it is to set up, and above all, that it weighs and packs down the same as my old bivy bag... A tremendous leap in quality for my solo adventures when I always hesitated between the 2P tent, bivy, or tarp. This has it all...

La mejor tienda de campaña para 1 persona y su perro que se puede encontrar. Puedo guardar todo mi equipo en la entrada y arropar a mi perro al lado. Es muy ligero y ocupa muy poco dentro de la mochila.

I bought this tent almost a year ago and I’ve used it quite a lot both in summer and winter, and I’m happy with it. It has more space inside than it looks like in the photos. It sets up quickly and weighs very little. Before buying it I hesitated about whether I should buy it with sealed seams or not. So far, without sealing, not a single drop has gotten in during a summer storm.
