The Circuit SV, manufactured by ULA Equipment in the USA, is the “Small Volume” version of the well-known Circuit: same philosophy and load system, but with a more compact profile. With a total capacity of 48L and a weight starting at 1,063 g, it’s designed for 3 to 5-night trips when you have fine-tuned your gear and don’t want to carry extra volume.
Its suspension system with an internal hoop transfers the load between shoulders and hips without becoming rigid, offering a balance that is hard to find: structure and comfort for many days of hiking without adding weight. Recommended for loads under 35 lb (15.9 kg).
When to Use It
Ideal for multi-day treks, fast hikes, or ultralight backpacking where you seek a pack with structure but with limited volume. The Circuit SV shines when your system is already compact: quilt or lightweight sleeping bag, ultralight tent, and food for several days without having to “fill” empty liters.
It is a good choice if you want a pack capable of carrying the load stably (up to 15.9 kg recommended), but you don’t need the 68L of a larger volume backpack. It’s also suitable for routes where you need to organize gear by pockets (front mesh, sides, and waist) and access water or snacks on the go.
Design
The Circuit SV maintains ULA’s typical functional focus: roll-top closure like a dry bag, side compression, contoured shoulder straps, and load lifters to adjust the load. You can choose between J-Strap or S-Strap shoulder straps depending on your anatomy and fit preference.
Includes a padded back system and an interchangeable hip-belt with large pockets. Additionally, it features loops for ice axes and trekking poles, a front shock cord, and the option to add strap kits (Top Y-strap / Bottom strap) for carrying sleeping pads or bulky gear.
Regarding actual capacity, ULA states the total volume including external pockets. The Circuit SV can fit a BearVault BV500 vertically inside the main compartment, useful for routes that require a canister.
Technical Fabrics
In its Robic version, it uses ULA 400 Robic: a Robic nylon with high tear and abrasion resistance, reinforced with ripstop and DWR treatment without PFAS (C0) and PU coating for improved water resistance.
The front pocket uses UltraStretch™ Mesh, a 4-way stretch mesh designed to last and better withstand wear than typical meshes, providing quick access to layers, filters, maps, or trash.
