The Aspen is a backpack designed in Colorado (United States) by Symbiosis Gear, a brand founded by Sarah Berkeley with a clear mission: to create gear that truly fits bodies with a bust. After years of hiking with backpacks that didn’t offer a comfortable fit, Sarah decided to design a backpack from scratch tailored for women.
When to Use It
This model is ideal for fast hikes and multi-day routes where every gram counts. With a main volume of 38L plus 10L in external pockets (48L total), it provides enough space for essentials without encouraging overpacking.
The recommended carrying capacity is up to 9kg, perfect for those seeking lightness and comfort over medium and long distances. The ergonomic design (with S-shaped straps, 3-position sternum strap, and foldable hip belt) reduces pressure on the chest and greatly improves stability, especially on descents.

Design
The “stealth” bottom pocket allows access to snacks or a windbreaker without removing the backpack. The large side pockets and zigzag compression keep the load stable. The roll-top closures make it easy to compress the backpack as you progress.
The S-shaped straps and fully adjustable sternum strap enable the backpack to fit properly on the torso and chest, avoiding shifting and pressure points common in many unisex designs. The weight is more naturally supported on the hips, noticeable especially on long hikes.

The Aspen is primarily made of a fabric called Extreema®, manufactured by EuroFibers, a Dutch company specializing in ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibers (UHMWPE).
