The Vesuv Hotspot 40, made by VESUV, is an alcohol stove for outdoor cooking and hiking. It’s designed to heat water or cook using a simple system with a small reservoir.
It uses a carbon felt that absorbs liquid alcohol-based fuel, with a maximum capacity of 40 ml. It includes a screw-on cap to close the stove when it’s cold.
It fits fast outings or longer trips where you want a compact stove for basic cooking tasks and you’re comfortable working with an open flame.
Not for indoor use: it requires good ventilation and a non-flammable surface. If you need fine flame control, this type of stove isn’t designed for that.
The concept is “reservoir + absorbent material”: the fuel is held in the felt, which reduces the risk of spills during handling compared to an open container.
Extinguishing is done by blowing it out or covering it with a flat, non-flammable object. The cap is only for closing and carrying the stove once it’s cold, since the inner plastic gasket can be damaged if used to extinguish it.
The body is aluminum, a common material for stoves due to its low weight and fast heat dissipation. In the field, this helps keep the setup simple and easy to handle once it has cooled down.
The key element is the carbon felt (non-woven), which acts as a “wick”/absorber. According to the manufacturer, it withstands up to 1300 °C, with the aim of maintaining its function without degrading from the heat of the flame.
