The ultralight backpack for hiking, Mariposa 60, is designed in Texas (United States) by Gossamer Gear. Few backpacks can be found as lightweight, comfortable, and spacious enough to carry heavy loads like this one.
It was awarded the best ultralight backpack of 2023 by Outdoor Gear Lab.
When to Use It
This ultralight backpack for hiking is intended for long-distance routes with a maximum carrying capacity of up to 16kg. It comes with load stabilizers and a removable internal frame that transfers the weight to the hip belt for comfortable and stable carrying.
It is also easy to adjust for carrying smaller loads, making it perfect for 2-3 day trips. Simply remove the hip belt and internal frame, and you’re good to go.

Design
It now comes with a size M hip belt installed as standard, which fits most hikers (size S and L sold separately). It continues with the successful SitLight back foam and has added a green color that will be available on reservation.
It features a front mesh pocket for storing wet rain gear, as well as several other side pockets of different sizes for organizing your belongings. The back foam can be removed and used as a sleeping pad or pillow 🙂

Made with Robic® Nylon
Robic® is a high-quality ripstop nylon manufactured by Hyosung. It has a thin polyurethane waterproof coating (PU) and a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment on the exterior to prevent water absorption.
Compared to other nylon fabrics, Robic® is up to 50% stronger and tear-resistant while remaining lightweight. For the Mariposa 60, they primarily used two densities: 100 denier and 200 denier for the most vulnerable areas to abrasion and wear.

It’s an excellent backpack. I bought it to replace the one I had, which was already very worn out, and I used it to do the Camino de Santiago, and it performed wonderfully throughout the whole week. The capacity is great; you don’t need any more. I was always very comfortable carrying it, and at no point did I have any discomfort in my shoulders or waist like I did with the old one I had. It has several large pockets, the center one and two side ones, ideal for rain gear, water, or food. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that it’s missing a rain cover. Other than that, I recommend it. Comfortable, Superligero, and with a good design, ideal for hiking and multi-day treks.

We had doubts about this backpack with such an extremely low weight, especially coming from traditional gear. We bought it, together with the Gorilla 50 model from the same brand, for extended trips. We did a couple of two-day outings with them to try them out and the impressions are absolutely positive. Easy to carry, I find it comfortable and durable. Its capacity to hold gear, clothing, etc. is impressive… very easy to pack and carry. We are very happy with these purchases. Absolutely recommended. Very comfortable backpack, it is very compact and fits the back very well. After a week of intense hiking that I put it through, it has held up perfectly. The zipper pulls are very useful, especially when wearing gloves, and the compartments are adequate. Overall, it has the quality you would expect for the price.
