These lightweight tent stakes are manufactured in Southern California, USA, by Toaks Outdoors and are some of the lightest you can get with a reasonable level of strength and durability.
When to Use Them
These thinner stakes are easier to penetrate moderately hard ground compared to thicker stakes like the V-Shaped ones. Therefore, you’ll need to use rocks to secure them in loose ground or in strong wind conditions.
To keep your stakes inside your backpack and prevent them from soiling or wetting your clothes, we recommend using ultralight storage bags made of Cuben Fiber. You’ll find a model suitable for tent stakes.
How Many Stakes Do You Need
Most configurations used in tents or tarps require a minimum of 6 stakes. 4 are used for the corners and 2 stakes are used to tension the vestibule. That’s the usual setup.
But depending on the area where you’ll be camping, you may need some more stakes, especially in very windy exposed areas. In that case, get some sturdier V-Shaped stakes. We often combine different stakes to help us shave off some weight from our backpacks.
Tips for Securing
In general, lightweight tent stakes like these should be struck carefully to avoid bending or damaging them. Use the tip of your boots or shoes along with both hands for greater stability, and press the stake into the ground with your body weight.
If the ground is too hard to drive the stake in, you can carefully anchor them using rocks.

Stakes that at first seem very thin—and they are—but are very strong, and with care they can be driven in almost anywhere.
I recommend painting the head with brightly colored nail polish so you can find them once they’re driven in.
