Hyperlite Mountain Gear, based in Maine (USA), specializes in making ultralight backpacks and shelters made with Dyneema. The 55-liter Windrider hiking pack is incredibly durable and waterproof for multi-week trips.
When to use it
The Windrider is designed mainly for hiking in wet or very dry climates where you need plenty of ventilation to dry wet gear or air out worn clothing. That’s why all of its external pockets are mesh. It also makes it easy to see what you have in the pockets 🙂
It has a total capacity of 65 liters: 55 liters for the main body and another 10 liters in the external pockets. With this capacity, it’s perfect for long, multi-week routes and loads up to 18kg.

Design
It has a large main compartment, an internal sleeve for a hydration system, and large hip belt pockets. The top is also roll-top, which lets you adjust the load as you go, and even strap on a jacket, a sleeping pad, or cords.
They use two removable aluminum stays to transfer weight to the hip belt instead of a full frame. The hip belt is sewn to the pack, unlike on other packs. This keeps everything in place and improves carry comfort.

Made from Dyneema Composite Hybrid
The 55-liter Windrider hiking pack uses a hybrid fabric made from Dyneema and polyester which, in addition to its mechanical properties, is also very durable.
Dyneema is a waterproof fabric and does not absorb water like other UL fabrics. Along with the sealed seams, we can say it’s a practically waterproof pack.
