The Waypoint 35 backpack, made by Hyperlite Mountain Gear, is an internally framed backpack designed for multi-day trips where you carry little gear and can resupply frequently.
Its capacity and recommended load make it ideal for hikers with lightweight gear and a base weight of around 4.5 kg. It also has 6.5 litres of external storage to keep your most-needed items close at hand.
When to use it
The Waypoint 35 is designed for multi-day trips with lightweight, compact gear, especially when you can resupply food frequently.
It is a good option if you already have experience with ultralight gear and know how much space you need. Its 35 litres may be insufficient if you carry bulky gear, food for many days or extra clothing for winter trips.
Design
The contoured back panel combines 6.35 mm foam, a single removable aluminium stay and a plastic reinforcement. This internal structure gives the backpack its shape and concentrates support in a simple configuration.
The roll-top closure allows you to adjust the height of the pack body according to the load. The side pockets, stretch mesh front pocket and integrated shoulder strap pockets keep small items separate from the main compartment.
Made from Dyneema®
The body uses Dyneema® Composite Hybrid 3.8 and 5.1, along with 100D Dyneema® Gridstop for the side pockets and shoulder straps. The centre pocket and shoulder strap pockets use Dyneema® Stretch Mesh UL.
