X-Mid 1

La X-Mid 1, made by Durston Gear in Canada, is a 1-person tent that has won multiple awards in recent years for its innovative geometric design. At just 720 g, it offers one of the best combinations of low weight, comfort, and protection in its category.

Its “X-Mid” geometry uses 2 trekking poles in a diagonal configuration that creates more vertical walls, better aerodynamics, and greater usable volume. The result: a tent that’s easy to pitch, stable in windy conditions, and surprisingly livable.

When to use it

Design

The X-Mid structural system creates a surprisingly spacious interior without sloping walls, making it comfortable to move around or change clothes inside. Its 2 vestibules offer plenty of room for gear and independent access on each side—unusual in tents at this weight.

The upper mesh vents reduce condensation and improve airflow, while the full fly provides complete protection from wind and rain. Fabric tension stays firm even when wet, and its symmetrical shape makes it easy to orient to the wind in seconds.

Made from 15D SIL/PE polyester (DCF)

The X-Mid 1 uses high-tenacity 15D Sil/PE polyester fabric (3,500 mm HH), which is more stable in humidity than nylon and offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. This material keeps its tension without stretching when wet, is waterproof, and dries quickly.

Factory-taped seams and YKK AquaGuard zippers ensure long-lasting protection in bad weather.
