Deschutes Plus

The Deschutes Plus ultralight tarp for hiking, manufactured by the American company Six Moon Designs, maintains a design very similar to the Deschutes. However, unlike the regular Deschutes, the Plus version comes with a mosquito net that covers the entire base. This prevents insects from entering and also protects against water splashing in.

Structure

The Deschutes Plus can be easily set up with just a trekking pole or a carbon fiber mast (not included). This allows you to vary the height and adjust to different weather conditions. Setting it up higher provides more ventilation, while lowering it increases protection against rain and wind.

It uses 6 stakes (not included) to tension the tarp, forming a closed pyramid shelter capable of providing full protection against wind and rain. To reduce condensation and improve ventilation, it features an opening at the top.

Design

The Deschutes Plus has an interior area of 4m², sufficient to accommodate one person and all their gear. It features a single side entry, making it easy and comfortable to enter and exit. Additionally, in good weather, the side entry can be rolled up to completely expose the shelter and enjoy great views.

Made of Silicone-Treated Nylon

Its lightweight is also attributed to the fabric used. It utilizes a 30D Ripstop nylon impregnated with silicone (Silnylon). Silicone is a hydrophobic material (repels water), making the fabric highly waterproof. It also adds some elasticity, similar to nylon itself, making it more resistant to pulls and tears.
